History of Cannabis Cultivation

Breaking stereotypes - moving forward
As the ancients said and modern sages and philosophers paraphrase, there is nothing more permanent in this life than constant changes. Everything flows, everything changes - the expression that the Greek thinkers left us has been confirmed in practice for thousands of years.
It would seem that as soon as in the society of one country or most countries of the world the point of view wins and prevails in relation to any issue, almost immediately or after a short time period, many thinking people begin to have fair questions and reasoned objections that call into question the infallibility measures taken. And over time, these objections gradually begin to be confirmed by scientific research, which proves the correctness of people who are looking for answers to the questions posed. This fully applies to the cultivation of hemp and its use in various areas of life, including medicine.
Global trends in the legalization of medical cannabis
Another country that has recently legalized the cultivation and use of marijuana, including for medical purposes, is Canada. The law comes into force on October 17, 2018. This fact is a revolutionary step by the Canadian government, which proves that the global trend is gaining momentum, which can only accelerate and expand, capturing more and more countries whose governments are ready to legalize hemp. For example, quite recently, in September of this year, the Georgian parliament adopted a law on the legalization of the cultivation and storage of cannabis, including for medical purposes. The process has begun, it can no longer be stopped, the number of countries that have legalized marijuana, no doubt, will only increase every year.
In addition, it should be noted that the cultivation of industrial and medical cannabis varieties is supported at the level of the United Nations. In the Declaration of Strategic Development of World Agriculture, a separate paragraph is devoted to the revival and development of hemp growing, especially in those countries that in the past had vast experience in this agricultural sector. Ukraine can safely be ranked among a number of such countries.
The Declaration specifically emphasizes that this crop has great potential for both industrial and therapeutic applications, not to mention that for agricultural producers, the cultivation of hemp is very profitable due to its high profitability, ever-growing demand and expanding market.
Cannabis renaissance gains momentum
The first important step towards the revival of Ukrainian hemp growing was the legalization in 2011 of the All-Ukrainian public organization "Ukrainian technical hemp". Thus, the state at the official level recognized that the cultivation of technical hemp in order to use it in industry, as well as in food production, is legal. Thus, starting from the spring of 2012, agricultural producers can grow cannabis containing the permissible content of cannabinoids without any restrictions.
However, as in any business that is just beginning to develop, there are many obstacles in the form of a lot of bureaucracy, sometimes ridiculous instructions and prohibitions that have been in effect since the late eighties of the last century, when cannabis cultivation was under the general brush of the fight against alcoholism and drug addiction. the agricultural industry was practically destroyed.
More recently, in 2012, hemp farmers succeeded in removing the requirement to hire cannabis field guards, which significantly reduced income levels.

Among the many agricultural producers who are engaged in the cultivation of hemp, one can note the Kravets O.P. farm, which is successfully engaged in a promising industry. The areas on which hemp is grown are located in two regions - Vinnitsa and Kyiv.

For the first time, a field with hemp, the head of the farm, Vladimir Yakimchuk, decided to sow six years ago, in 2012. At that time, the hemp growing market in Ukraine was very small, several companies grew hemp, among them: Kharkov Rope Plant, Linen of Desna and Agro-Hanf. According to the entrepreneur, he decided to invest, because he expected that the Ukrainian hemp market would gain momentum every year, develop actively and did not lose.

In 2013, the restriction was lifted, which stipulated that the fields on which hemp was grown should be located no closer than one kilometer from a settlement, road or forest, and also no closer than 3 kilometers from the state border. Such severe restrictions resulted in the fact that it was impossible to find a suitable site in 90 percent of the territory of Ukraine. This fact significantly hampered the development of Ukrainian hemp growing. The abolition of restrictions on the location of fields immediately doubled the profitability of the business.

Specialization of the farm "Kravets O. P."

The main source of income of the farm "Kravets O.P." is the seed trade. More than half of the harvested crop is exported abroad, where Ukrainian seeds are highly valued. Among the countries to which they are exported:

United States;

China;

Italy;

Latvia;

Estonia;

Lithuania.

As you know, hemp seeds are a source of vitamins, macro- and microelements important for human health. Healing infusions, decoctions, alcohol tinctures and ointments are made from them, which are used to treat a wide range of diseases. In addition, hemp seeds contain fatty amino acids Omega 6 and Omega 3 in a ratio of one to three, which is the most optimal for absorption by the human body.

A powerful start for the development of cannabis

According to the head of the Association "Ukrainian Industrial Hemp" Oleksandr Ignatyuk, Ukraine is only at the beginning of the path for the development of cannabis. But this fact did not prevent it from being in second place after France in terms of production in Europe. It is quite possible that if the trend of doubling the area of hemp fields continues in the future, Ukraine may become a leader on the European continent in the near future.
