Side effects of medical marijuana

Side effects of medical marijuana

The side effects of medical marijuana are generally much less severe than those of pharmaceutical drugs. Patients may experience a variety of symptoms.

Marijuana is a natural product, it affects each person differently and some side effects may occur. Before we get started, it's important to note that everyone's endocannabinoid system is different, people use the same strain and have completely different reactions. Although generally much less serious than pharmaceutical drugs, they significantly hurt the kidneys, liver, and so on...

The THC in cannabis is known for its ability to increase appetite and reduce nausea, and is used to treat people with HIV/AIDS and those undergoing chemotherapy and other cancer treatments.

Dry mouth!

One of the most common side effects, especially when smoking, is dry mouth. This is caused by a variety of medications you take, chronic conditions, diabetes and lupus, as well as anxiety and depression, can cause dry mouth.

The best way to hydrate your mouth is to drink more water throughout the day, if that doesn't help, try changing your diet - particularly supplements and spices. Many spices, such as anise and fennel seeds, are known to stimulate saliva flow, relieve bad breath, and help treat dryness.

Drowsiness and insomnia!

Indica strains have a naturally calming effect on most people, which is why they are so popular for treating insomnia. If you find yourself feeling sleepy during the day, consider switching to a sativa strain known for its energizing properties.

Another trick is to use a more recent cannabis sample. How THC begins to degrade with age and this creates an effective natural sedative known as cannabinol. If you need to stay awake, make sure your cannabis is fresh.

On the opposite side of the coin, higher strains of THC will cause insomnia AND make it difficult to fall asleep. If you feel tired during the day and need an extra boost of energy, sativa tension can help provide the energy you're looking for. Insomnia has been noted with sativa use, consider switching to a mellower indica strain to help prevent this insomnia.

Red eyes

This is apparently one of the most iconic effects of medical marijuana - red and irritated eyes. The THC in hemp causes the blood vessels to dilate, including the eye vessels. This is what makes it an effective treatment for glaucoma, as it also lowers intraocular pressure.

You can try using eye drops designed for redness and irritation.

Anxiety

This is a difficult side effect. For some people, cannabis is an effective remedy for anxiety. For others, it causes unsettling feelings or worsens their anxiety. The difference lies in the levels of THC and CBD in each marijuana strain.

Strains with high levels of CBD and low or negligible levels of THC have been shown to be effective in treating anxiety. On the other hand, high THC strains can cause anxiety even in people who are not particularly prone to anxious feelings. If your medical marijuana strain is bothering you, don't go to a psychiatrist - try lower THC levels instead to see if it helps mitigate the effects.

It is possible to experience one or two side effects, or none at all, other than the red eyes and mekni that are so often associated with cannabis use.
