Cannabis seeds in Israel - Decriminalization of cannabis
Cannabis seeds in Israel, as well as in the CIS countries, were always available for purchase, in principle. Criminal liability was brought for the possession and use of marijuana plants, but in 2017 the situation changed. In March last year, a law was passed to decriminalize the use of cannabis. Now, if up to 25 g of marijuana is found, a fine of 300 shekels (at the current rate of about $85) will be imposed, and for the use of cannabis in a public place, the fine will be 1,500 shekels (about $425). At the same time, a criminal case will be initiated only after the fourth detention.
Marijuana is a plant with significant medicinal potential.
Israel became the first country in the Middle East to decriminalize cannabis use. It is noteworthy that here they are actively studying the medical possibilities of marijuana - chemical and pharmacological. And, it should be noted that the results of these studies are impressive.
Cannabis successfully relieves pain, including those caused by migraines, helps fight insomnia, anxiety disorders and PTSD, reduces the number of seizures in epilepsy and helps fight cancer. The latter was confirmed in recent studies - marijuana not only helps to cope with the effects of chemotherapy, it also enhances its effect, in particular, inhibits the development of cancer cells.
Now in Israel, about 25 thousand people have the right to use medical cannabis, including in the presence of window diseases. It is also prescribed to many by psychiatrists, as a number of studies prove the usefulness of cannabis in relieving stress, treating depression and other psychological disorders. Israel's experience only once again proves the need for the state to adjust legislation to new useful achievements in science and medicine, regardless of what they are based on.
