The version related to marijuana appeared quite recently. Scientists raised the topic of this plant after a local scientist voiced his arguments on the air of one of the San Francisco radio stations. It is to him that the idea that the plant has a negative effect on groundwater, as a result of which it is depleted, belongs to him. Maybe not only hemp contributes to this, but in any case, according to the specialist, it has its influence.

This idea was picked up by other experts. Perhaps, this version would have suffered a fiasco, if it were not for one interesting fact: in the territory of California today, an order of magnitude more cannabis grows than in Mexico.
