In the United States, the number of supporters of legalization is growing rapidly
The indicators of the sociological survey, which takes place every three years, once again show that the majority of Americans want to buy cannabis seeds, as well as products of the finished plant - on legal grounds. The study was conducted in the period from 7 to 11 October this year. In total, experts interviewed 1015 adult respondents from different states of the state and the Federal District of Columbia.
58% of people said they want to buy products legally. This figure is steadily growing every year. For comparison, back in 1969 the number of supporters of such an idea was at the level of 12%. By the beginning of the new millennium, the number of applicants had grown to 30%, and at the end of 2009, an indicator of 40% was recorded.
Unlike in the past, now the idea of legalizing cannabis is supported not only by young people, although they are in the majority. The answer "yes" was given by 71% of respondents aged 18 to 34 years, the number of agreed representatives of the 35-49 years old category is 64%, in the group of Americans 50-64 years old there is an indicator of 58%, among the older generation - 35%. The figures obtained in the elderly segment are the highest in the history of the study.
The idea of marijuana legalization in the United States is so popular that even the religious leaders of Pennsylvania, and they are representatives of different faiths, even approved of it. The day before, a meeting was held with the participation of 60 "officials" who conveyed an official message to the Parliament of Pennsylvania. In their statement, representatives of the Church stated that they did not intend to interfere with the approval of the law on the legalization of cannabis.
In May 2015, the project was considered and approved by the state Senate - 40 out of 47 senators approved the ideas. Today there are discussions at the level of the Pennsylvania Parliament, and, judging by the rumors, the deputies will approve the law. Gov. Tom Wolfe supports such ideas and will put his signature if the legislation is passed.
Officials are guided by the opinion of the population. According to a recent study, 90% want the legalization of cannabis for medicinal purposes. If the campaign goes well in Pennsylvania, the state will join the rest of the 23rd, where marijuana was previously fully or partially legalized. Today, Americans are free to buy cannabis seeds and grow them for personal consumption.
