Marijuana will become 30 times more powerful? Scientists discover new cannabinos

Italian scientists have discovered 2 cannabis substances that can compete with the well-known THC and CBD. Hemp seeds and plants contain about 150 cannabinoids - scientists find it difficult to give an exact number - most of which do not even have names yet. The most studied are tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), these substances are indicated in the characteristics of varieties. The first is responsible for the psychoactive effect of cannabis, the second - for the medical. Of course, things are not so simple in reality: THC also has therapeutic properties, for maximum therapeutic effect there must be a certain ratio of THC and CBD, and it is not yet clear why different varieties with the same levels of THC and CBD have different recreational and medical effects. But perhaps the discovery of scientists from Italy will shed some light on the mystery.

What substances have been discovered by scientists

Tetrahydrocannabiforol (THCP). The structure resembles THC and, according to the results of experiments, shows a THC-like effect. But 30 times more powerful.

Cannabidiphorol (CBDP). It is similar to CBD because it is an antioxidant, relieves inflammation, convulsions and, in principle, extinguishes the side effects of THC-like compounds.

So far, scientists do not know the exact mechanisms of interaction of these substances with the human body. Their effect has only been tested on mice, so one can only speculate how similar the effect of THCP and THC on consciousness is. But there is evidence that the former will have a stronger effect on CB1 receptors in the human brain, which means a powerful THC-like effect.

Another important point to study is the concentration of these substances: scientists have found them in minimal quantities, but the cannabis market is huge, so there may be varieties where the content of open cannabinoids is noticeably higher.

The discovery potentially gives breeders new opportunities: perhaps soon THC and CBD will fade into the background, and breeders will try to develop hybrids with a lot of THCP specifically for lovers of "more powerful".
