Ukrainian social activists will fight for medical marijuana
Ukrainian public organizations that provide support to seriously ill and incurable patients are going to raise the issue of reforming the legislation regarding narcotic drugs at the state level. This was announced at a press conference of the Hemp Freedom March, held on May 15.
Press attache Taras Ratushny said that the Ministry of Health needs to compile a report on the number of people in Ukraine who need cannabis seed-based preparations, but do not have access to them due to existing bans. According to him, this will make it possible to see the problem and how much the existing legislation hinders its resolution, and also to begin to act towards reforming it.
According to Ratushny, there are more than two million seriously ill people in Ukraine who experience severe pain. He notes that this is an approximate figure, since there are currently no registries and a clear mechanism for recording patients with serious illnesses. It also contributes to the invisibility of the problem that organizations intend to work on. The town hall noted the importance of the reaction from the society, especially those who are able to accelerate changes in legislation - doctors, scientists, politicians, opinion leaders.
Medical marijuana in the world
To date, 19 countries around the world have opened access to medical marijuana or preparations based on it for patients in need. They are prescribed for cancer patients, people with multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, HIV / AIDS, as well as for chronic pain. In many of these countries, cannabis or a preparation based on it can only be purchased on a specific doctor's prescription, and the state has full control over its production.
One such country with a strict cannabis policy, while allowing medical marijuana, is Israel. And recently he announced his intention to invest in the cultivation of cannabis in other countries, due to the lack of his own resources. The effectiveness of marijuana has been proven repeatedly - the database of medical publications from around the world PubMed contains more than 17 thousand articles confirming the usefulness of hemp substances for the body.
